On Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at approximately 1331 hours CPD units responded to the Walmart located at 60 Noble Blvd. for reports of an active retail theft. On scene CPD units spoke with Walmart's asset protection department who currently had a David Ross detained. CPD spoke with asset protection and learned that Ross had selected a Zippo lighter that he concealed in his back pants pocket before attempting to exit the store without first paying for the merchandise. Ross admitted to both CPD units and asset protection that he did take the lighter.
Walmart's asset protection also advised CPD units that Ross had previously been trespassed from the property and was not authorized to be on the property during the theft.
A criminal history check revealed that Ross had two prior retail theft convictions on his record.
Ross was placed under arrested and transported to Judge Brewbaker's office where he was arraigned on his new charges before being transported to Cumberland County Prison for processing and commitment.
