On Friday, April 29, 2016 at approximately 0106 hours CPD units responded to a suspicious vehicle that was currently running with the driver slumped over in the front seat and a small child in a baby seat in the back of the vehicle. On scene CPD units made contact with the operator, Zachary Solarez, who was asleep behind the wheel while his 11 month old son was seated in the back.
After speaking with Solarez and a further investigation, CPD units discovered that Solarez had taken a large amount of a prescribed medication that rendered him incapable of safe driving. Solarez was arrested and transported to CRMC for a legal blood draw before being transported to Cumberland County Prison for processing.
Charges were filed on Solarez for two counts of DUI and endangering the welfare of children. The blood results are pending.
