On Saturday, April 23, 2022 at about 1300 hours, Carlisle Police responded the report of a stolen Corvette near the intersection of N Pitt Street and H Street in Carlisle. Police met with Joel D TREECE of Roaring Spring, PA who reported that his 1963 Corvette had been stolen from the above location while he attended the Carlisle Car Show. Police initiated an investigation in cooperation with the PA State Police Auto Theft Task Force and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
The investigation revealed that TREECE obtained a fraudulent vehicle title for the Corvette. The vehicle was located by in OH and found to be owned by another person who had possession of the vehicle since the 1980s. TREECE made a false insurance claim for the theft of the vehicle. TREECE was arrested for False Reports, Insurance Fraud, Title washing and related charges on January 9, 2023. TREECE was given unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing on January 15, 2023.
