Gift Card Scam

On November 13th, 2019, at 1430 hours, Carlisle Borough Police received a call for an active fraud. The victim had received a call from a male stating that he was with a local Sheriff's Office. The male requested that the victim pay in gift cards and send them via U.S.Postal Service. After placing the package in the mail, the victim became suspicious that this was a scam. The cards were recovered. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carlisle Borough Police at 717-243-5252 or submit a tip thru Crimewatch. 

The Carlisle Borough Police would also like to remind residents that if you receive a call stating that you have a warrant and to pay over the phone, that this is a scam. If you would ever have a warrant from our department, we will contact you and ask you to turn yourself in or appear in front of a Judge. Never provide personal information over the phone, to include debit/credit card numbers.
