The Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the public’s assistance in locating information on the striking vehicle in a hit and run fatal crash that occurred on 12/23/18 in the early morning hours before sunrise.
Martese DAVENPORT at 30 year old B/N/M from Hempstead NY was walking northbound in I-81, near MM54.7, Silver Spring Twp., Cumberland County, when he was struck from behind. It is believed that he was walking with the flow of traffic, along the berm, when he was struck from behind. DAVENPORT was wearing dark clothing and it is unknown if the driver of the striking vehicle was aware of what was struck.
Through investigative means, it was determined that a Bobtail Truck (truck with no tractor) was observed in the area at 0200hrs, parked along the shoulder.
Further investigative means reveal that three bobtail trucks are traveling north on I-81 in the area between 0130hrs and 0200hrs.
A previous press release requested the public’s assistance in identifying a bobtail truck that was observed leaving the Flying J parking lot on 12/23/18 at 0200hrs. It has since been determined that this truck is not connected to the hit and run.
It is believed that there may be minor damage to right front of the truck, likely to a mirror. The truck also may be leaking oil.
If any passing motorists observed this vehicle, they are encouraged to contact Trooper John Boardman at PSP Carlisle, 717-249-2121. The Pennsylvania State Police request any information that could be provided regarding this vehicle and or the driver/occupants.
The Cumberland County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information in solving this case. email@example.com
