On January 16, 2019, at approximately 11:35 pm, the East Pennsboro Township Police observed a vehicle fail to stop for a properly posted stop sign on Front Street at Market Street, in West Fairview. The officer activated emergency lights at which point the vehicle continued north on Front Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued to flee from the officer making several turns, failing to use turn signals, and traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer continued to follow the vehicle and observed the vehicle turn onto Biddle Street where he parked in the 1100 block of 2nd Street. The operator, later identified as Reginald Lawn Oberton, II, 25, of the 300 block of Juniper Street, Carlisle, exited his vehicle and stated that he was sorry and he was scared because he had been drinking and he didn't know what to do. He also admitted to having "two buds" of marijuana in his car. Oberton was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. Oberton was charged with Fleeing and Eluding, DUI, Possession of marijuana, and other traffic offenses and faces a preliminary hearing before MDJ Sanderson.
