On January 27th, 2020 around 1:40 PM, the Lower Allen Township Police Department was dispatched to the Capital City Mall for a report of counterfeit bills being passed in multiple stores. An investigation determined the actors to be Adina Chisom, Shamel Williams, and Elliot Allen.
They all arrived at the Mall in a white 2015 Chrysler 300 and then entered the mall together. Shamel Williams and Adina Chisom entered H&M and made a purchase of $10.99. They used a counterfeit $100.00 bill and received $89.01 in change. Williams and Chisom then entered Bath and Body Works and made a purchase of $30.80. They use another counterfeit $100.00 bill and received $68.20 in change. Shamel Williams then entered the Yankee Candle store by himself and made a purchase of three room sprays valued each at $3.00. He used another counterfeit $100.00 bill and received change for this transaction. All three then left in the same vehicle.
All stores detected that the bills were counterfeit after they were passed. On 2/6/2020, a similar incident occured in Lancaster County. Elliot Allen and Adina Chisom were arrested for attempting to and successfully passing counterfeit $100.00 bills. The bill used was the exact same serial number as the bills used at the Capital City Mall on 1/27/2020.
Warrants were issued for all three actors, but have since been served.
