On November 5, 2019 at 4:30 PM, the Lower Allen Township Police Department was dispatched to Zumiez's at the Capital City Mall for a non-active retail theft that was to have occurred around 11:00 AM that morning. Mall Security prepared video of the incident.
A black female walked into the store with an empty bag and emerged from the store with the bag full. A store employee saw the suspect holding two jackets when she had to go to the back of the store. When she returned to the counter, she confirmed the suspect was gone as well as both jackets. Each jacket was valued at $69.95, totaling $139.90.The suspect went to a black Nissan Rogue in the parking lot with a PA plate. The tag was ran and it came back as a rental vehicle.
The renter's information was gathered. Lashaye Bowers of Harrisburg rented the vehicle. Bowers' driver's license matched the female from the video. Bowers again returned to the store on 11/8/19 but was confronted by Mall Security. She abruptly left, but mall security found video of Bowers completing a sweepstakes entry. The entry was observed and Bowers' identification was further confirmed.
