On May 14, 2019 at 2:04 AM, the Lower Allen Township Police Department was dispatched to the 1600 block of Carlisle Rd for a suspicious person possibly attempting to steal a motorcycle and looking into cars. The resident stated he looked out his large front bay window and noticed a person walking by his neighbors' car and assumed it was his neighbor. The caller then heard glass breaking in another room of his house and their dog began barking. He discovered that his Harley Davidson, which is normally parked and covered in front of this window, was uncovered and leaning against the window. He noticed that his window had been broken by the brake lever of the Harley Davidson when it was attempted to be moved. The window replacement has an approximate value of $500. The brake lever was also broken and valued at approximately $100.
The callers advised that the suspect was a short white male, wearing dark clothing, some type of hat and a backpack. Officers located an intoxicated male matching that description in the 1300 block of Carlisle Road. Officers had the caller drive by and he advised that this was the subject they witnessed outside of their home. The subject was identified as Allen Jacob Gross.
When Gross was advised he was under arrest for criminal mischief and loitering and prowling at night, he pulled away and began to run. Officers pursued and tackled Gross after a short chase. Gross continued to thrash around and resist arrest. Gross had to be carried to the police cruiser and would not sit inside. Once placed in the back seat, Gross kicked at the doors and slammed his head against the metal partition cutting his forehead.
Because of Gross' actions, about $260 worth of damage was done to police equipment. Gross was transported to the hospital and then to Cumberland County Prison, where he was committed due to not making bail.
It is also believed that Gross had entered other unlocked vehicles in the area. If any resident had their vehicles entered or is missing property, please contact the Lower Allen Township Police Department.
