On March 14, 2021 at 3:36, Lower Allen Township Police, EMS, Fire, and Lisburn Fire were dispatched to an accident with a tree on a Toyota Tundra in the 3800 Block of Lisburn Road. The first officer arrived on the scene at 3:39 p.m. and reported that a large tree had fallen on a vehicle and there was heavy entrapment of two occupants. With live wires arching, PPL was called to request powering down the electrical grid in the area to allow access to the vehicle and protect responders in the extrication efforts.
The investigation indicated the Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on Lisburn Road when a tree, that was approximately 20 yards off the east side of the road on a steep embankment, fell due to high wind gusts. The falling tree impacted directly on the Toyota entrapping the driver and passenger. The tree also took down power lines in the immediate area and started a small brush fire from wire arcing. A Ford F150, that had just turned north on Lisburn Road from Old Forge Road, was also struck by the falling tree causing its windshield to shatter.
Lower Allen Township Fire, Lisburn Fire, Upper Allen Township Fire, and Fairview Township Fire extricated the female passenger from the Toyota. Lower Allen EMS and Penn State Life Lion EMS treated the Toyota passenger at the scene and subsequently transported her to Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital. The Driver of the Toyota was deceased at the scene and released to the Cumberland County Coroner following extrication. Public Safety Units cleared the scene at 6:45 p.m. and power was restored.
