On December 12, 2019, a remote check deposit was made into Michael Budka's Members First account in the amount of $250.00. Following the deposit, an ATM withdrawal was conducted. On the 15th, another check was deposited into Budka's account in the amount of $175.00. A second ATM withdrawal was conducted immediately after. Also on the 15th, a third check was deposited in the amount of $150.00. Another ATM withdrawal followed.
On the 20th, all three checks returned "not authorized," causing Member's First FCU a loss of $635.00. While researching these losses, is was also discovered that Budka and his fiancee have two other accounts. It was found that additional bad checks were deposited into both accounts. Member's First suffered an additional loss of $614.64 due to these checks also returning as not authorized, bringing the total loss to $1249.64.
Budka was contacted and failed to make good on the loss. Charges were filed.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
