On Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:34 p.m., Lower Allen Township Police Department officers were patrolling the parking lot of Walmart, 3400 Hartzdale Drive, when they conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Uhaul van. The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and the operator, Thomas Cowland, provided consent to search.
Marijuana and a straw containing a white residue was seized. Cowland subsequently admitted to having fentanyl in his pocket and was arrested.
Charges were filed and an arrest warrant has been issued.
