On 6-19-2019 at approximately 2030, Newville Police were conducting a home/business check in the area of Fairfield St and Pennsylvania Ave. During this time, Officers observed a silver Honda pickup truck traveling in their direction on Fairfield St. The truck swerved across the roadway then made a left hand turn onto Pennsylvania Ave. Upon making the turn, the truck came to a complete stop in the roadway, in front of the Officers. The Officer took a few steps towards the truck, the truck crept forward and stopped. The Officer took a few more steps and the vehicle drove to the intersection of Hursh ST and Pennsylvania Ave and parked. The Officers observed a female operator driving the vehicle. The Officers went to the intersection and spoke with the operator who was identified as Kelly Chestnut of Newville. Chestnut had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her breath and was difficult to understand. Chestnut was put through the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) which she could not complete due to a high level of impairment. She was placed in custody for driving while under the influence. The Toxicology report was received and showed that Chestnut's blood contained a BAC of 0.305%.
