On 09-18-2021 at approximately 2311 Newville Police conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen with an inoperable tail light in the area of 4 West St. The operator was identified as Christopher Snyder (29) of Carlisle. Also in the vehicle was a female passenger. During the course of the traffic stop it was discovered that the female had had an active protection from abuse order (PFA) against Snyder. Snyder was placed in custody for the PFA violation and transported to Cumberland County Prison (CCP). The owners of the Volkswagen arrived on scene to retrieve their vehicle. Upon their arrival, the female passenger who was still on scene, locked the vehicle and fled the area. As a result, said Volkswagen was towed to secure storage until the keys could be recovered.
Newville Police received information that the Volkswagen may contain illicit drugs. Newville Police conducted a consent search on the vehicle and discovered approximately 27g of methamphetamines. A search warrant was applied for and executed for Snyder's cell phone. A review of Snyder's Cell phone indicated that he was actively engaged in narcotic sales across Cumberland County. Snyder was arrested and is currently awaiting arraignment.
