In November of 2017, the Newville Police Department received a referral involving the suspected abuse of a 14 year old victim. During the investigation, it was reported the suspect Elwood Yohe II attempted to gain access to a bathroom being used by the victim while she was showering. The results of the investigation allege that Yohe II during the period of January 2017 through September 2017 inappropriately touched the female victim, attempted to view her in the shower multiple times, and attempted to solicit pictures of the victim from her mother.
On July 2, 2018 the NPD in conjunction with the Cumberland County DA's office filed charges on Yohe II. Yohe II was charged with felony Corruption of Minors, misdemeanor Indecent Assault and misdemeanor Invasion of Privacy.
Yohe II was arraigned in front of MDJ Anthony Adams where $50,000 unsecured bail was assigned. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on July 26, 2018 in front of MDJ Cohick.
