The Shippensburg Police Department has received a Traffic Safety Grant from PennDOT to enhance Pedestrian Safety. Officers will be engaging in additional enforcement during March. Whether you are out for a stroll on a sunny day or patronizing one of the many outstanding businesses within our community; remember to cross at the crosswalks, use enhanced safety devices when available, cross only when the signal indicates, and wear bright or reflective clothing during periods of darkness or decreased visibility such as rain or fog.
Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed while travelling through congested areas and be extra observant when approaching crosswalks. Drivers are also reminded to take an additional moment to look when turning, as persons may have entered the crosswalk on the road the motorists are turning on to.
