On Monday, January 17, 2022, the Shippensburg Police Department was contacted by the Ashland Police Department in Virginia in reference to a missing 15-year-old girl from the Ashland area. The juvenile had been missing since Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Through an investigation, it was learned that the 15-year-old juvenile met Edward LEE Jr., THE DEFENDANT, (who was 24 years old), through a social media application. LEE paid for the juvenile to come to Shippensburg. The juvenile and LEE met up and engaged in sexual activity while knowing the juvenile was only 15 years of age.
The juvenile was found safe and later returned to family members from Virginia.
LEE was charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, and Corruption of Minors. LEE was arraigned and bail set at $50,000. He was unable to post bail therefore committed to the Cumberland County Prison.
