On Saturday, October 11, 2014 at about 1337 hours officers from the Shippensburg Police Department were dispatched to the Thought Lot, located near the 100 block of South Earl Street (intersecting with East Garfield Street) for a male subject with a gun having an altercation with some females. Several subjects in the area reported hearing what they thought was a gun shot. Upon further investigation it was determined that Demetrius RUNKLE, THE DEFENDANT was emotional, had a gun and shot something.
According to the victims a minor and Krysta ROCKWELL, THE DEFENDANT was upset and made comments about harming himself. During the encounter they had with him at the Thought Lot, THE DEFENDANT got upset and ran around a building and they heard a gun shot. They immediately went to check on THE DEFENDANT to find THE DEFENDANT pointing a small black gun at them, telling them to stop and to back up. He told them if they didn't he would kill everyone and himself. As they started to back up he told them to drive him to the hospital. All three got in the vehicle and Krysta drove. THE DEFENDANT told them several times he would kill them. Krysta said as they got to Chambersburg they were stopped by the Chambersburg Police based on information provided to them by the Shippensburg Police Department. A black .22 caliber Jennings firearm with the serial number obliterated was recovered.
It was learned the gun was stolen from ROCKWELL's house by THE DEFENDANT.
THE DEFENDANT was charged with; receiving stolen property felony 2, altering or obliterating mark of identification felony 2, and terroristic threats misd 1. THE DEFENDANT was transported to the Cumberland County Booking Center last evening (10/11/2014) for arraignment. He was arraigned by the on-call MDJ this morning (10/12/2014) who set bail at $50,000.
