Arrest regarding incident near Shippensburg Area HS

On Wednesday, March 06, 2019 at approximately 1502 hours, officers from the Shippensburg Police Department were dispatched to the area near the Shippensburg Area Senior High School, Franklin County, for the report of an individual brandishing a handgun at three juvenile students.  The students were walking away from the high school towards their vehicles to leave school for the day.  A vehicle, white in color, was occupied by a female passenger and a male driver.  The driver made an obscene gesture towards the juveniles and drove past.  The vehicle turned around and came back towards them.  The driver pointed a handgun at the juvenile students and the juveniles became scared.  911 was called and police units from Shippensburg Police Department, Shippensburg University Police Department and PSP- Chambersburg circulated the area.  The vehicle was not located at the time.  Further investigation identified the driver as Kevin Michael MASON, 19 years of age.  He was charged with 3 counts of simple assault and was arraigned before MDJ K.L. Rock.  Bail was set at 75,000.00.  MASON is currently in Franklin County jail in lieu of bail.  The handgun was a BB gun and was recovered at the time of the arrest. SP-2019-1002
