SUMMER TRAFFIC SAFETY REMINDER
As of today, most area schools have dismissed for the summer, which means more youngsters will be out and about the community on foot and on bike. Summer vacation has begun for children in and around Carlisle.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and be extra observant for children of all ages. This is especially so in the vicinity of parks, recreation facilities and athletic fields, and area swimming pools. In their exuberance to have fun, play and be kids, children can easily forget to follow basic safety practices and unknowingly put themselves at greater risk of being injured in a traffic accident.
Motorists can take steps to reduce the possibility of accidents by:
1. Slowing down.
2. Being especially careful and alert in an area where there is a concentration of youngsters.
3. Be extremely cautious when driving anywhere near parks and recreation areas.
4. Not becoming distracted by using the radio, cell phone or other device while driving.
Taking a few easy safety precautions may help increase safety for the whole community. Have a safe and happy summer!
