This arrest is the result of an accident investigation on May 29, 2019 in the 1500 block of Waggoner's Gap Rd.  The two vehicle accident occurred as Unit 1, operated by GAITO was being operated at a high rate of speed, crossed the center line, and impacted Unit 2, operated by Cheri PATTERSON,  in the south bound lane.  Both Unit's sustained major damage.  Opr 2, Cheri PATTERSON of Carlisle, Pa. was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.  Once freed, she was flown to Hershey Medical Center where she was treated for major life altering injuries.  Opr 1, GAITO was freed by Police personnel.  North Middleton Police investigated the crash with the assistance of the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office, Cumberland County Forensics Unit, and the Pennsylvania State Police.  The investigation led to charges being filed.  The Defendant GAITO was taken into custody without incident and transported to Judge FEGLEY's office for arraignment where bail was denied.  Defendant GAITO was transported to the Cumberland County Prison.
