Update to previous incident where Police Officer's encountered a suspicious male subject which subsequently fled from Officers. Officer's pursued the vehicle through Carlisle Borough to Waggoner's Gap Rd. (Rt. 74). The vehicle fled north on Waggoner's Gap Rd. and reached speeds in excess of 80 mph. Officer's discontinued the pursuit for the safety of the public, Officer's and the Defendant.
The vehicle was located in a driveway at a residence located on Enola Rd. where the Defendant was attempting to get gasoline from a resident for the car which ran out of gas. The Defendant fled on foot. A perimeter was set up with the assistance of the Carlisle Borough Police Department, K-9, Middlesex Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and Pennsylvania State Police Aviation.
After several hours, the Defendant was taken into custody along the 600 block of North Middleton Rd. Once in custody, the Defendant was identified. A record check on the Defendant revealed an active Homicide Warrant issued by the Circuit Court for Charles County Maryland on July 23, 2021 for the crime of Homicide and other charges including Firearm use, violent crime, Firearm use violent crime, Robbery, Robbery and theft charges. It was also learned that the Defendant took the vehicle without the owners consent.
The Defendant was transported to the UPMC Carlisle hospital to be evaluated and cleared. He was then taken to the Cumberland County prison where he will be held and arraigned on the following charges.
