Ronald Wert charged with Criminal Homicide

The North Middleton Township Police Department has charged Ronald WERT, 66 y/o of Carlisle for Murder in the 1st and 3rd degree of Linda BRANDT, 64 y/o of Carlisle.  BRANDT’s death was ruled a Homicide by Multiple gunshot wounds to the back. 

On July 22nd, 2019, at 5:30 pm, BRANDT was found deceased outside of her residence on Pleasant Hall Rd in North Middleton Township.   Moments later, North Middleton Twp PD was dispatched to a gunshot victim at 3751 Waggoners Gap Rd.  Ronald WERT, estranged husband of Linda BRANDT, was found alone at his secluded residence with a gunshot wound to the head and a gun next to his body.  WERT survived his wound and after discharge from the hospital, he was charged with Possession of a firearm prohibited, and Obstruction of administration of law.  WERT was the defendant in which a Protection from Abuse (PFA) order prohibited him from possessing firearms.  The plaintiff or protected party of the PFA was  Linda BRANDT.

North Middleton Twp PD discovered the firearm used to murder BRANDT in a residence that WERT often provided lawncare services.  The firearm was forensically tested for ballistics and matched the spent rounds found outside of BRANDT’s residence on July 22nd, 2019.

WERT was arraigned via video conferencing by District Magistrate FEGLEY on May 22nd, 2020 in which bail was denied.
