On Wednesday, August 19, 2015 around 5:45 pm The West Shore Regional Police Department was dispatched for a two vehicle crash on the Harvey Taylor Bridge Bypass westbound. The crash was reported to be just west of the South Second Street ramps in the Borough of Wormleysburg. When officers arrived on the scene they learned that a silver Kia Optima operated by a 24 year old male from Lebanon entered the bypass from South Second Street and then changed lanes in front of a black Volkswagon Beetle. The two vehicles collided and stopped blocking the inside lane of the roadway. The Beetle was being operated by a 30 year old male from Hampden Township.
A 19 year old female passenger in the Optima was taken to a local hospital by Holy Spirit EMS after she complained of neck and shoulder pain and also as a precautionary measure due to her being 5 months pregnant. Apparatus from the West Shore Bureau of Fire was also dispatched to the scene to assist with clean up. The crash closed the westbound lanes of the bypass at South Second Street for almost an hour while the roadway was cleared.
The operator of the Optima was issued a citation for Careless Driving.
