On Thursday, October 22, 2015 West Shore Regional Police was dispatched to a business in Lemoyne Borough for a cardiac arrest. Officer(s) arrived shortly after dispatch and discovered a male patient showing signs of an opiate overdose. The officer administer Narcan nasally, which successfully reversed the effects of the opiate overdose. The patient was then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
This is the first use of Narcan since West Shore Regional Police began to carry it and we are glad to report it was successful. It is important to outline the teamwork involved to allow officer(s) to carry this life-saving drug including the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office and Holy Spirit EMS.
