Free CPR Class Offered to Community

In honor of CPR & AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Awareness Week, West Shore Regional Police Department and Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center are offering a free Family & Friends CPR class on Thursday, June 9th.  American Heart Association-trained instructors will be teaching the class in the meeting room of the West Shore Regional Police Department building.  The course will teach participants the skills needed to successfully perform CPR on a victim of cardiac arrest.  In addition, they will also learn how to help a person who is choking.  AEDs are commonplace throughout our communities.   Everyone who comes to the course will receive hands-on experience with an AED so in the event of an emergency they will know exactly how to use one.

The American Heart Association’s Family and Friends CPR course will be offered.  This course is intended to teach lay rescuers, it is NOT a certification course.  The class begins at 5 p.m. and should end around 9 p.m.  After successfully completing the course, each participant will receive a course booklet to keep.  For questions call 717-763-2594.  To register for this free class, send an email to with your name and contact phone number.  Class size is limited and will be filled on a first come basis.
