No NNO? Not exactly...
Given the uncertain state of affairs with the pandemic and the lengthy planning cycle that accompanies an event on the scale in which we conducted it in recent years, our team determined that we would not be holding a centralized event for National Night Out in 2021. We didn't want to secure vendor commitments and a venue and then find out that we couldn't have a gathering, so we held off. Hindsight being 20/20, it looks like we could have pushed ahead, but our crystal ball was in the shop that day! We plan to be back, better than ever, in 2022 and hope that you'll be able to join us then!
In the meantime, we encourage local neighborhood gatherings, many of which were already going to happen anyway. NNO is a national event...YOUR event. Even though it has become police and public safety driven over the years, it started as neighbors getting out to meet neighbors at events organized at the neighborhood level. Tonight is an opportunity to get back to those roots. If you ARE having a local gathering and are reading this on Facebook, let us know in the comments and we will try to swing by for a visit between other calls. Morning weather reports say it should be a nice evening to get outside!
As an aside, for those looking for a great community event outside of your neighborhoods in August, the Lisburn Community Fire Company's Festival is 8/11-8/14!
Be safe and, I we don't see you tonight, we hope to see you next year!
