District Attorney's State-of-the-art crime lab holds open house

September 20, 2022- The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Forensic Crime Lab today opened its doors and invited the community to see the new home of its state-of-the-art facility located on the Ritner Highway in Carlisle.  The old lab was previously housed in Cumberland County’s old prison, a castle like structure located on East High Street in Carlisle.  District Attorney Seán M. McCormack commented, “We outgrew that building and needed a new home.  We had all this high-tech equipment crammed in former prison cells.  Our space requirements reached a point where it was time to move to a more appropriate location.”

Lab staff proudly explained their jobs and the capabilities of the lab’s instruments as numerous dignitaries, law enforcement officials, county officials and anyone else interested in seeing the lab took tours of the facility throughout the afternoon.

District Attorney McCormack stated, “While the state-of-the-art equipment is what dazzles everyone, it is the quality and dedication of the people who work here that really impresses me.  We can have all the fancy equipment in the world, and that is worth nothing without having highly trained individuals to work those instruments.”
