On January 10, 2023, Benjamin Banks appeared before the Honorable Judge Peck to be sentenced on the charge of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child, a Felony in the First Degree. Banks was sentenced to incarceration in a state correctional facility for no less than 12, nor more than 24 years, followed by a consecutive term of 3 years probation. Banks was also deemed by the Court to be a Sexually Violent Predator, and accordingly will be required to register as a sex offender, undergo monthly counseling, notify the community about his status, and undergo regular check-ins with the Pennsylvania State Police for the remainder of his lifetime. The victim was 8 years old at the time of the offense. At sentencing, the victim’s family spoke on her behalf, and spoke to the lifelong impact and trauma that Banks’s crimes will have, but also spoke to the child’s bravery and resiliency.
These charges were brought by the Lower Allen Township Police Department, after their investigation revealed that Banks had subjected the child victim to Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse. Senior Assistant District Attorney Lauren Perchinski prosecuted the case, working closely with the victim and their family. We thank the Lower Allen Township Police for their efforts in this case.
