January 31, 2023: Commonwealth v. James Allen Brown - Following a plea to Aggravated Assault and Robbery, James Allen Brown was sentenced on January 31, 2023, by the Honorable Judge Jessica E. Brewbaker to an aggregate sentence of 7 to 14 years in a State Correctional Institution. The conviction stemmed from an armed robbery on May 5, 2022, at the Speedway convenient store and gas station on High Street in Carlisle Borough.
Brown entered the store around 6:00 a.m. on May 5th with a large kitchen knife with the intent to “snatch some money and run.” In the process of attempting to rob the store, the defendant stabbed the clerk several times while the clerk attempted to wrestle the knife away from the defendant. Ultimately, Brown fled the store, leaving behind his DNA on a coffee cup along with his wallet with his identification card inside. Brown later turned himself into police and provided a full confession. The clerk required immediate medical attention, but thankfully has since recovered from his stab wounds.
District Attorney Seán McCormack expressed his gratitude to the both the Carlisle Borough Police and the Pennsylvania State Police for their professionalism and thorough investigation. This case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Nichole L. Vito.
