Defendant Edwin Ruben Sosa Jimenez was sentenced today by the Honorable Judge Christylee Peck to 5.5 to 18 years in state prison for his role in the June 2021 shooting at the Camp Hill Borough Pool. The Defendant had pled guilty last month to one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Homicide.
On June 28, 2021, the Defendant drove from Harrisburg to the Camp Hill Borough Pool to confront the victim regarding a dispute. The dispute escalated to the point where the Defendant fired six shots at the victim, at least one of which grazed the victim in the head. The Defendant then fled the scene. Thankfully, the victim only suffered superficial injuries and was released from the hospital the night the shooting occurred.
The Defendant was identified and later apprehended after an exhaustive month-long investigation conducted by the Camp Hill Borough Police Department and the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, with some assistance from several other law enforcement agencies. The investigation also confirmed that the shooting location was random and no threat relating to this incident exists to Camp Hill Borough residents.
The case was prosecuted from start to finish by Senior Assistant District Attorney Daniel Tarvin and Sgt. W. Scott Cornelious of the Camp Hill Borough Police Department. Nearly every member of the Camp Hill Borough Police Department participated in and contributed to the investigation in some way.
A sincere thank you to the Camp Hill Borough Police Department for their hard work in bringing this case to a successful resolution.
