On July 12, 2022, Kyle Hill and Michaella Weidler were charged by Det. Cody Phillips of Silver Spring Township Police Department with Drug , Delivery Resulting in Death; Criminal Conspiracy to Drug Delivery Resulting in Death; Criminal Use of a Communication Facility; three counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance; Criminal Conspiracy to Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance; Involuntary Manslaughter; Criminal Conspiracy to Involuntary Manslaughter; Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance (three counts) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both defendants appeared for a preliminary hearing on these charges before Magisterial District Judge Kathryn Silcox on August 25, 2022, and waived all charges to the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas.
It is alleged by the Commonwealth that on or about May 10, 2022, Hill and Weidler sold fentanyl, marketed as heroin, methamphetamine, and pressed pills to the victim. The victim then ingested the controlled substances, and died as from acute fentanyl toxicity. Hill and Weidler were found to be in possession of additional quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and pressed pills when law enforcement conducted a search warrant on their residence. Senior Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Robinson will prosecute both cases.
