A preliminary hearing was held on charges filed against Cordaryl Burns before Magisterial District Judge H. Anthony Adams on August 19, 2022. After an over three-hour hearing, MDJ Adams held for court a multitude of charges including Criminal Homicide – Murder of the First Degree, Arson, Persons Not to Possess a Firearm, Criminal Conspiracy and other related offenses. On April 16, 2022, Trooper Shawn Barry of the Pennsylvania State Police in Carlisle charged Cordaryl Burns and Larry Burns for a double homicide and arson that took place at a Southampton Township, Cumberland County home on February 23, 2022. The Commonwealth alleges that Cordaryl Burns and Larry Burns shot and killed the two victims and then set the residence on fire. Cordaryl Burns was apprehended in Detroit, Michigan and extradited to Pennsylvania. He is scheduled for Formal Arraignment on October 10, 2022, and remains incarcerated without bail.
District Attorney Seán M. McCormack and First Assistant District Attorney Courtney Hair LaRue will prosecute both cases.
