Firearm Safety

Firearm Safety: A Critical Reminder for Our Community

As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents, the Shippensburg Police Department would like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of responsible firearm ownership and handling. Firearm safety is a critical aspect of our collective responsibility to prevent accidents and ensure the security of our community.

Here are some essential reminders to keep in mind:

  • Always handle firearms with care: Treat every firearm as if it is loaded, even if you're certain it's not.
  •
  • Store firearms safely: Keep firearms and ammunition in a secure location, out of the reach of children and unauthorized individuals.
  •
  • Be aware of your surroundings: Never point a firearm at another person or discharge it in a populated area.
  •
  • Take a firearms safety course: Educate yourself on proper firearm handling, safety procedures, and local laws.
  •
  • Report lost or stolen firearms: Immediately notify the authorities if your firearm is lost or stolen to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
  •

By following these simple yet crucial guidelines, we can work together to prevent firearm-related accidents and ensure a safer community for everyone. Remember, firearm safety is a shared responsibility, and we must all do our part to prevent tragedies.

If you have any questions or concerns about firearm safety, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Shippensburg Police Department. We are committed to providing our community with the resources and support needed to stay safe and informed.
