Public Safety Announcement: Beware of Bitcoin Scams

The Shippensburg Police Department is warning the community about the increasing prevalence of Bitcoin scams. These scams often target unsuspecting individuals, resulting in significant financial losses.

Scammers may use various tactics to convince victims to invest in fraudulent Bitcoin schemes or as we have been made aware of scare tactics.  These would include money scares, children scare, grandchildren scares or simply things such as social security scares.   They might be promising unusually high returns or guaranteed investment opportunities. However, these schemes are often designed to steal your money or personal information.

To protect yourself from these scams:

• Be cautious of unsolicited investment opportunities, especially those promising unusually high returns.

• Never invest in something you don't fully understand.

• Verify the authenticity of investment opportunities and companies through reputable sources.
•  
• Never share personal or financial information with unknown individuals or companies.

• Report suspicious activity to the Shippensburg Police Department immediately.

Remember, if an investment opportunity seems too good to be true, it likely is. Stay vigilant and protect your financial security.
